We engage in transparent and constructive dialogue with decision-makers, NGOs and other players in the value chain. We can better react and anticipate consumer expectations by creating a dialogue with them and by sharing our expertise with public policy makers. Public authorities will likely increase regulatory requirements as a result of economic, socio-demographic and ecological developments. It is important for Ahold to anticipate these changes. An effective interdependency between public authorities, business and consumers can help to inform and change consumer behavior and reduce the need for government intervention. Ahold is a committed member of the main trade associations in the countries where it operates.
