Going the distance in Africa

For eight weeks in 2007 Albert Heijn supermarket manager and former Ahold management trainee Simon-Jan Terpstra worked in Bamako, Mali to support the management of a mango packaging factory. He worked together with Koot Nel, warehouse manager from Univeg. This project marked the second time mangos from Mali were exported to the Netherlands for Albert Heijn. The program started in 2006 with 20,000 tonnes of mangos. After favorable results in both 2006 and 2007, the project is expected to continue in 2008.
