"Good" energy

In April 2007, Stop & Shop announced it would purchase Sterling Planet Green-e certified renewable energy certificates to match 100% of its electricity use at a new store in Kennebunk, Maine. Sterling Planet will annually supply 2,700 megawatt hours of renewable energy for the store. With this purchase, Stop & Shop will avoid nearly two kilotons of CO₂ pollution in the next year.

All of ICA Sweden's warehouses use only Good Environmental Choice-labeled electricity. This has helped to reduce CO₂ emissions from energy production by approximately five kilotons, or about 8% of emissions from ICA's distribution transport action.
