A place to call home

Albert stores in the Czech Republic are urging customers to help needy children with the Bertíci project. Albert donates funds based on the number of Bertíci tokens the customers deposit in special boxes in stores. These funds are divided among around 100 institutions, including orphanages, social welfare organizations, and homes for needy mothers. The project takes place in 130 towns in the Czech Republic and 243 Albert stores across the country are involved. Money raised is used primarily for education and other programs to support the further development of children in state institutions. It is also used to help older children to build careers and independent lives after they leave orphanages. In addition, the Bertíci project supports the "Foundation of Mrs. and Mr. Klaus" - founded by the Czech President and First Lady to help children and others in need. In 2007, the Bertíci project raised a record sum of more than €300,000.
