Sustainable strawberries

Albert Heijn partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature to encourage sustainable strawberry growing in Spain. Since February 2007, customers buying Spanish strawberries in Albert Heijn stores have found a small booklet embossed with the WWF Panda attached to the packaging. It tells them that by buying those specific strawberries at Albert Heijn, they are helping to protect an important wetland nature reserve, the Coto Doñana in the south of Spain. The wetland is home to many migratory and water birds, as well as rare plants and animals, including the Iberian lynx, one of the world's most endangered species.
